Brett is the owner and pit master for Butler's Carolina BBQ.  He was born in Charlotte, NC and grew up in Weddington, NC.  He graduated from Weddington High School in 2004 and went on to attend Western Carolina University.  He has spent his entire professional career in sales working in professional sports, mortgage and public safety technology.  He also served eight years in the Army National Guard.

It was his first visit to see his then fiance's grandfather in Michigan in 2015 that he was first shown how the process of cooking large cuts of meat with a live fire and adding smoke from wood to enhance the flavor worked. Being from North Carolina, Brett always loved BBQ but didn't know all the work and patience that goes into it.  He fell in love with the low and slow process and started doing it himself at home.  

Through the last several years, Brett's passion and knowledge grew for running a pit.  Family and friends enjoyed the food he was producing and this led him to start Butler's Carolina BBQ.  He's excited to continue the Carolina tradition of serving chopped pork (and other flavorful meats) to his community.
