About Butler's Carolina BBQ
Brett is the owner and pit master for Butler's Carolina BBQ. Born in Charlotte and raised in Weddington, NC, he graduated from Weddington High School in 2004 before attending Western Carolina University. His professional career has spanned sales roles in professional sports, mortgage, and public safety technology, along with eight years of service in the Army National Guard.
His passion for BBQ started in 2015 during a visit to his then-fiancée’s grandfather in Michigan, where he first learned the art of smoking meat over a live fire. Growing up in North Carolina, Brett always loved BBQ, but he didn’t fully appreciate the patience and skill behind the low and slow cooking process until then. Once he experienced it firsthand, he was hooked and began perfecting it at home.
Over the years, Brett’s dedication to running a pit grew, and with encouragement from family and friends who loved his food, he launched Butler’s Carolina BBQ. Now, he’s proud to bring the tradition of authentic Carolina BBQ to the community, offering options for both catering and convenient takeout or delivery.
